This week’s book is a great one for animal lovers. Here is a review I wrote:
Frankie the walk ‘n roll dog, what a trooper
“Hi, my name is Frankie! Welcome to my life.” is how Frankie the walk ‘n roll dog begins. Frankie starts her life like any other dog, running around, playful and happy. Adopted by a loving couple, she goes on bike rides to the market, plays with her dog sister and friends and sleeps in a cozy warm bed. She has a wonderful life. Then a tragic accident happens that makes poor Frankie paralyzed in her hind legs. Does she hide her tail between her legs and give up on life? No. She goes on to teach us all how to overcome obstacles and disabilities that get thrown at us.
Written from the point of view of Frankie, the author has done a very good job showing us what it’s like to be stricken with a disability later in life. The story walks you step by step through Frankie’s ordeal. The illustrations by Victoria Kay Lieffring depict the story with bold colors and make you ‘see’ what the story tells. The fears and frustrations little Frankie experiences are expressed in a way that children will be able to understand.
This charming story will be a wonderful addition to any child’s library.

Okay, Barb is coming out with an activity book to go along with hand in hand with Frankie, the Walk 'N Roll Dog. It’s due out June 1, 2009 and will be packed with word searches, crossword puzzles, mazes, coloring pages and a few writing exercises. They both promote these messages:
Never give up hope!
Be compassionate!
Follow your heart!
Treat others with kindness!
Believe in yourself!
Be an inspiration to others!
Choose happiness!
Here are a few facts about both the book and Frankie herself.
National Best Books 2008 Awarded by USA Book News!
Frankie was nominated for Wisconsin Pet Hall of Fame 2008 in companion category!
You can watch Frankie's Inspirational Video
See Frankie's TV appearances & listen to radio interviews!
The activity book will be available in print and e-book formats. Look for it in June at the ablove website.

Congratulations Barb! That's great news. I hope it's everything you hoped it would be.
