Tip #4 ABC Vocabulary Search

This one’s for children who can read and write, so maybe second grade and up.

Do you remember spelling books from grade school? Each week there was a list of Vocabulary words. You had to:
Learn how to spell them all
Learn what the meaning was
Write sentences with them
Pick the word that goes in the sentence, and so on.

Remember? Well, this is part of that type of learning. Now, you could do all the above mentioned activities as well, but I like this next one best.

Make a list of words from the story that you want your child or students to learn. Have them put them in alphabetical order. This gets them to really learn their ABC’s.

Now be honest, how many of you could put this list in order without saying your ABC’s, you know, the song we all learned in kindergarten?

Waterfall
Reindeer

Have fun and I’ll see you tomorrow with another fun tip.

I still remember not spelling depot right in grammar school because I didn't study the assignment the night before.

Mine was the word 'vacation'. I always had to sing that song, "v-a-c-a-t-i-o-n,da,da,da,da,in the summer time!" Now the one that gets me is recipe, but if I think about it, I get it right.
